London can be unforgiving when it comes to living expenses, so we’ve researched the 20 cheapest places for you to live in London.
Acton – In West London located in the borough of Ealing. Only 24 minutes to Leicester Square on the tube.
Anerly – This is in South East London, bordering Croydon. It’s 21 minutes to London Bridge from here.
Beckton – An East London location, 42 minutes from central.
Catford – South East London, and is 21 minutes to Leicester Square. It’s named after the black cats of the area, associated with witchcraft but other than that a pretty good place to stay.
Charlton – South East London in the Royal Borough of Greenwhich. It’s 27 minutes to Charing Cross.
Colliers Wood – Quite far south London, half an hour to Leicester Square on the Northern Line.
Deptford – Apparently the “Shoreditch of East London” on the south bank of the Thames. 30 minutes to Leicester Square.
Enfield – In North London and an unfortunate 40 minutes from Leicester Square but not devastating.
Forest Hill – 46 minutes on the overground then two tubes. There’s a pretty fascinating museum with an impressive collection of taxidermy animals there though.
Holloway Road – One of the main shopping streets in North London and only 11 minutes on the tube! Nice one.
Leyton – East London and 36 minutes on the Overground followed by two tubes to Leicester Square.
New Eltham – South East London, 26 minutes from Charing Cross.
Nunhead – 23 minutes to Leicester Square
Perivale – 32 minutes on the tube changing once, located in Ealing – West London
Plaistow – East London in the borough of Newham and 30 minutes to Leicester Square
Shepherds Bush – An area that’s absolutely not short of character. West London, 20 minutes from Leicester Square.
Southgate – 31 minutes on the Picadilly Line to Leicester Square from North London.
Sydenham – A South Easy London suburb in the borough of Lewisham. It’s almost an up and coming area at the moment. 23 minutes to Charing Cross.
Tottenham – In North London in the Borough of Haringey. 20 minutes on the tube to Leicester Square changing at Finsbury Park.
Wood Green – Very much North London in the borough of Haringey. Green lane is great for a kebab. It’s 21 minutes on the Picadilly Line to Leicester Square too.
