On his blog, author Austin Kleon, discusses concepts of linear versus circular time. The innovation of measuring progress toward a final point, compared with taking pleasure in life’s repeating cycle.

Our Relationship with time develops according to our environment, we wield time and use it as a tool to measure (and punish) ourselves against arbitrary goals. We fail to see moments as unique and fleeting that once spent, could never be repeated.

During time in lockdown, usual rituals lost their familiar shape, this linear model exacerbated anxiety over separation fromfamily and friends. With some effort, some of us were forced tofocus on appreciating time in its circular aspect. In doing so,for many, a new beauty was laid out, where seasons with their plants and animals return and repeat, moments are never lost but will always come again. This, so elegantly embodied in the lengthening of days that signifies the inevitable return of Spring.
